Library of Things

We offer a number of Things for checkout--WiFi hotspots, Kindles preloaded with popular titles, memory kits, energy meters, and yard games. Call us at (608) 849-4217 to check availability or place a hold*.

*Yard Games and Winter Fun items are not available for holds

DVD Players

We currently circulate one DVD player with an HDMI cord to connect to a television and one External DVD Drive to connect to a laptop/desktop computer. Checkout period: 2 weeks.

Energy Meter

Borrow a portable energy meter from MG&E to determine appliance energy consumption. Checkout period: 2 weeks.


We offer several Kindle Paperwhite e-readers loaded with popular titles. We also have a Kindle Fire tablet loaded with movies and connected to Amazon Prime content. Checkout period: 4 weeks.

Memory Kits

Memory kits are themed collections of books and activities to help those living with memory loss connect through favorite topics, crafts, or games and can help spark conversations and memories. Checkout period: 2 weeks.

  • Early Stage Memory Loss: America, Nature, Midwestern Life, The 40s and 50s
  • Mid/Late Stage Memory Loss: Gardening, Music, The 1960s, Cats

Meta Quest 2

Try virtual reality with a Meta Quest 2 headset. These headsets are pre-loaded with four games: Beat Saber, Job Simulator, Tetris Effect: Connected, and Walkabout Mini Golf. Kits provided by Field Day Learning Games, Virtual Environments Group (Wisconsin Institue for Discovery), Wisconsin Center for Education Research (UW-Madison), and National Science Foundation. Project support by the Library Services Team at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Checkout period: 1 week, must be 16 or older to borrow.

Puzzles - New!

We offer a collection of jigsaw puzzles for all ages, ranging from 24-1000 pieces. Checkout period: 2 weeks.

Wi-Fi Hotspot

Wi-Fi Hotspots can be checked out and used to connect a device (laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc...) to the internet. Read the full Wi-Fi Hotspot Policy and Guidelines here. Checkout period: 1 week, must be 16 or older to borrow.

Winter Fun Kits

Make the most of the snow with these winter fun kits! Checkout period: 2 weeks, no holds allowed.

WI State Park Pass

This program allows library cardholders to check out a state park and daily forest vehicle admission pass from participating libraries. Stop by the desk at the lobby to pick up a pass for the day! Check Out Wisconsin State Parks At Your Library is a collaborative effort between the DNR, the Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Wonder Walk Bag

The Friends of the Pheasant Branch Conservancy have prepared for your use a backpack full of materials to enhance your experience at the conservancy! The bag includes six Wonder Walk guides developed around features of the conservancy, with background information and suggested activities. The bag also includes trail guides, notepads, a magnifying glass, a dip net, and bird identification book. Checkout period: 2 weeks.

We offer several items to check out and use while you're working at the library, available at the upstairs reference desk. These items include adjustable laptop stands, a lightning port charger, a USB-C charger, a 19.5V 65W Laptop charger, and an SD card reader.
