Notary Public

We are pleased to offer free notary services at the library. To ensure a notary is available when you arrive, please call ahead at (608) 849-4217

  • You must bring a photo ID. Documents cannot be notarized unless the person signing the document presents photo identification.
  • Do not sign documents ahead of time. Documents cannot be notarized unless the notary witnesses the act of signing.
  • If the document needs to have witness signatures, we encourage you to bring your own witnesses. However, library staff will serve as witnesses where appropriate and when staffing allows.
  • Having a document notarized does not verify that the information in the document is true or legal, it only verifies that the notary has witnessed the signature of the person signing and has verified their identification.
