We are excited to announce that the Waunakee Public Library will partially re-open the building at 9 AM on Monday, June 15 for limited services. Waunakee Library staff have worked hard to determine the best methods of expanding our services slowly while maintaining our new health and cleaning protocols in this time of COVID-19. Since late-April, the Library has offered curbside pickup of holds, and have averaged over 200 pickups per week. We will continue our regular curbside services through Saturday, June 13, although curbside pickup of holds will continue to remain an option upon request (call the Library at 608-849-4217 to arrange a pickup time) after June 13. We greatly thank you for your support during this time!
This next phase of re-opening will allow public access to the front of the building – the main lobby, new item collections, History Hall, and restrooms. Capacity will be limited to 24 people at any given time and patrons and staff must maintain social distance. Staff will wear masks and we strongly encourage all of our visitors to do the same.
As with our curbside services, Holds will be pre-checked-out and bagged and available for grab n’ go service by patrons. We will also offer access to new items, Lucky Day items, and a small collection of children’s materials that will be updated daily. All checkouts of these items will be done at the self-checkout stations. Curbside pickup of holds will also remain an option upon request (call the Library at 608-849-4217 to arrange a pickup time).
Patrons may return checked-out items. Returns will only be accepted through our drive-up bookdrop for now. We will continue to quarantine returned materials for 72 hours before checking them in, and our return bookdrop’s hours will continue to be limited. We will, however, expand those hours beyond our current twice-weekly schedule. We’ll have more details on that soon.
Library users may use the public PCs, printers, and scanner on the second floor by appointment only. Access to the Tech Hub will be limited to no more than three people at a time and appointments will be limited to one hour per person. Strict social spacing will be maintained. Computers, keyboards, and other equipment will be sanitized after each use.
Unfortunately, the Children’s Area, meeting & study rooms, and entire second floor (with the exception of PC appointments) will remain closed for now.
We have very much missed seeing you in the Library these past two-and-a-half months, and are extremely eager to welcome you back into an environment that will be as safe as we can make it. Stay tuned for further details in the next week. Please continue to be healthy and safe and we very much look forward to our community members being able to once again enjoy this beautiful building.
