Laurie Notaro will discuss her book, Crossing the Horizon, a novel about the women pilots who attempted the transatlantic crossing prior to Amelia Earhart.

The book takes place in 1927/28 and is centered around Elsie Mackay, one of the first women to get her pilot's license in Britain; Ruth Elder, who took off from Roosevelt Field in the American Girl, a Stinson Detroiter; and Mabel Boll, who teamed up with Charles Levine of the Columbia Airplane Corp. and who also departed from Roosevelt Field when he became the first transatlantic passenger in the Miss Columbia, a WB2.
