Ruthanne Bessman is pleased to present an Origami Folding Workshop. This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to origami and its history. Attendees will learn to fold several different models including animals and designs that can be used as stationery, gifts and decorations. A variety of papers will be used with an emphasis on reusing everyday materials.
Artist Ruthanne Bessman is a certified origami instructor by the Nippon Origami Association in Japan and has taught origami worldwide since 1987. A former board member of OrigamiUSA, Bessman's work has been displayed in exhibitions and permanent collections including the Masters of Origami Exhibition in Salzburg, Austria. She received an award for her origami greeting card designs at the Origami World Exhibition in Japan. Bessman was the featured artist at the grand opening of the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison where she taught and produced a large citizen created work now on permanent display. Bessman has designed and coordinated large public installations at the Middleton Public Library and the UW-Children's Hospital in Madison. Ruthanne is also the host of “Classics by Request” on WPR.
