The Waunakee Public Library was 1 of only 65 libraries across the country to be awarded a grant about the American Civil War.  Let’s Talk About It:  Making Sense of the American Civil War, a reading and discussion series, has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.  This 5-part series will be held over several months, beginning in November 2011 until March 2012, and will be hosted by Adam Malka, a Senior PhD Candidate in U.S. History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Digital Download Center training for Kindle

Bring your Kindles to this training session, and we will show you how to check out digital downloads through the library.  The library will have a limited number of devices for examples, so please bring your own if you have one.

Digital Photographs: Transfer, Store and Share

Saturday, February 18
1:00-3:30pm

Is your digital camera is full of great photographs, but you aren’t quite sure what to do with them?

We will walk you through the process of downloading photos from your camera to a computer, and show you where to go from there. Topics include digital photo storage, basic editing, uploading to an online album, sending in email, and ordering prints and photo books.
Please bring your digital camera (with photographs saved on it) and the USB cable that came with your camera. Also bring a USB flash drive if you want to save your photographs.

It will also help to have an email account set up.

Registration is limited to 7, but additional spaces are available for people who can bring their own laptop. Please note in the "special needs" area if you will be bringing a laptop.

The American Civil War - History of the
1st Brigade Band

1st Brigade BandJoin Ted Tweed in the library's programming room as he discusses the history of the 1st Brigade Band. Ted is the past-President of the Heritage Military Music Foundation, and he will lead the discussion in authentic Civil War uniform.


This event is in celebration of Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a reading and discussion series made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.
